Chicago Visitor’s Guide

by

Chicago is known for its skyscrapers, deep-dish pizza, Da Bears, and Barack Obama. Chicago’s mix of colorful neighborhoods, incredible restaurants, and energizing nightlife make it the perfect city to visit. Lisa shares her visitor’s guide to the windy city.

Two Delicious Restaurants:

Frontera Grill. This restaurant is famous for its fresh, authentic Mexican food and perfect margaritas. The mole sauces are incredible and the flank steak and enchiladas are out of this world.

Blackbird. Located in the West Loop, this sleek, elegant restaurant specializes in creative, French-inspired cuisine using fresh Midwest ingredients. I recommend the sea bass and the wood grilled chicken.

Three Fun Outdoor Activities:

Taking in a Cubs game at the historic Wrigley Field is a true Chicago pastime. Experience an insider’s view of the legendary ballpark by taking a tour of the dugouts, press boxes, and clubhouses.

Explore Chicago by bike on the Lakefront Neighborhood bike tour. My family loved this tour so much, we did it two days in a row! Cruise through Chicago and check out some off-the-beaten-path sights including city parks, the North Avenue beaches, Oprah’s house, the Playboy Mansion, Lincoln Park Zoo, and the Lakefront. This is a wonderful way to spend a sunny afternoon.

After a day of shopping, touring, and sightseeing, enjoy one of the best views of Chicago from the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building. Enjoy cocktails while taking in breathtaking 350 degree views of the city’s skyline.

Also be sure to check out Millennium Park’s innovative architecture, Grant Park’s Buckingham Fountain, and the array shops on the world-class Michigan Avenue.

Two Exciting Shows

Be sure to check out the The Blueman Group show at Lakeview’s Bryer Street Theater. The Blue Man Group show is a totally unique form of entertainment that combines music, comedy, and multimedia theatrics.

Follow the laughter to Second City, Chicago’s celebrated improve comedy club. Since 1959, Second City has coached and produced highly talented comedians including John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and Tina Fey.
